Belfair Farms Riding Academy
IEA Team

The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) is a zone based competitive horse riding program for grades 4-12 at all levels.  Zone teams take turns hosting horse shows throughout the season.  Team members ride horses that are furnished but all the zone barns participating in the show and are chosen by random draw.  Points are tracked for individual rider accomplishments and for overall team accomplishments.  Individuals and team earn points to qualify for regionals, zone and national finals.  Go to rideiea.org for more information.

IEA Shows

-Each rider can do a max of 5 shows in the regular IEA Show Season

-$40 per class and $60 coaching fee per show.  The cost of hauling and caring for horses is split between all riders attending the show.

-Depending on rider level, they will either compete in one flat class or one flat and one over fences

-Individual goal is to earn 18 points which will allow that rider to qualify for regionals

-The teams (middle & highschool) will each have a pre-selected point rider for each show (completed by trainer without riders knowledge).  The points from these riders are tallied and used to rank the team as a whole

-Team goal is to earn 20 points this will allow the top point riders to qualify for regionals (the entire team does not automatically qualify)

-If an individual or the team qualifies for post season showing that is up to an additional 3 more weekends of IEA Show commitment

-Points for both individual and team are assigned as follows:

 1st place=7 points

2nd place= 5 points

3rd place= 4 points

4th place= 3 points

5th place= 2 points

6th place- 1 point
